They are called senile warts and they can appear over any part of the body and are not necessarily a condition of old age. Younger people can also get them over various parts of the body and there is no real treatment except removal. They appear unexpectedly and are mostly seen on the faces of old folk, particularly men.

They can also appear as scabs. They may come on the stomach, back, legs, arms and even the breasts of some women. They are noticeable in more ways as they can be itchy at times and sometimes annoying to the point where one scratches or picks at them.

They are known by the name seborrhoeic keratosis they can be brown or black although in many cases they are skin coloured.

Many turn to cryotherapy or removal by liquid nitrogen that is usually done by a doctor although there are chemical alternatives. Some scientists have produced other ways of dealing with them and one in particular used zinc oxide adhesive left on for 5 weeks. That treatment evolved in the late 1940’s and is not referred to at this time.

For those who suffer the effect of senile warts the best idea is to consult with the doctor for treatment. As there are so many alternatives the main consideration is correct diagnosis as other things can also be present. In some cases the use of apple cider vinegar (with mother) applied frequently can have good results and is certainly worth a try.
